Unlike a simple wax, ceramic coating bonds to the paint surface and creates a durable protective layer that helps protect against UV exposure, water spots, dirt buildup, light contamination, and everyday environmental exposure while making the vehicle easier to maintain. Proper preparation is one of the most important parts of the ceramic coating process. Before applying the coating, the vehicle must go through a complete exterior decontamination and paint preparation process to ensure the surface is properly corrected and ready for installation.
Depending on the condition of the vehicle, this process may include:
– Deep exterior wash and decontamination
– Clay bar treatment
– Paint preparation (“prep”)
– Paint correction and polishing
– Removal of light scratches, swirl marks, oxidation, and surface imperfections
– Enhancement of gloss, clarity, and paint depth
For newer vehicles, the process may only require a light paint prep to maximize gloss and coating adhesion. Vehicles with heavier imperfections may require one-stage or two-stage paint correction prior to coating installation.
